Estimating the impact of the number of children on women’s participation to the labor market: differences between Metropolitan France and the Reunion Island

NENFPEF
The concrete measurement of the relationship between family size on women labor supply is not straightforward. Although, prima facie the correlation between them appears to be negative, it is quite hard to disentangle the direction of the effects. More specifically, both fertility and participation decisions are jointlly determined and simple models as Ordinary Least Square suffer from endogeneity bias.
