We aim to study the spatial and territorial dimension of agriculture in the Ouest of France. We could then offer a typology of farmers in the West of France (Haute-Normandie, Basse-Normandie, Bretagne, Pays de la Loire, Poitou-Charente) from individual data from the Agricultural Survey. We now have to determine the degree of socio-economic heterogeneity for farms and open up the debate on adaptation perspectives to the coming context (DOBREMEZ L., BOUSSET J.P., 1995 ; PERROT C., LANDAIS E., PIERRET P., 1995). This will be the occasion to renew thoughts on the criteria of farm classification
