GLObal RIVALries and Firm Dynamics in the Technology-Trade Multiplex

RIMUTEC
The GLORIVALS project aims to study whether and how the international context faced by innovative firms impacts their decisions regarding the intensity and direction of their innovations. Our objective is to create a firm-level measure of the commercial exposure of innovations in order to assess the elasticity of companies' innovation activities to specific external trade shocks. Tracking changes in companies’ innovation orientations resulting from shifts in trade patterns is of both economic and political significance. As the global economy is reshaped by discussions on strategic autonomy and reshoring, as well as the re-emergence of intense rivalries between countries, the GLORIVALS project seeks to provide first quantitative insights into the dynamics at play by capturing the complex interdependence of trade and technology related firms decisions.
