This project aims to assess the impact of gender pay inequalities on well-being and mental health. While a reduction in wage gaps has been observed, gender inequalities in mental health have paradoxically increased. We focus on the effect of the publication of the Professional Equality Index, established by the Pénicaud law in France in 2019, by comparing companies that disclosed their index with those that did not. Using matched employer-employee data, we will explore how revealing pay disparities influences the mental health of both men and women, employing methods such as difference-in-differences and regression discontinuity design. These finding will be contextualized with working conditions.
