The research project aims to renew analyses of daily mobility in France. Mobility continues to rely heavily on the car: in 2017, 74% of working people in employment who declare that they travelled to work use their car; even for distances of less than 5 kilometers, the car’s modal share remains the majority. Yet the prevalence of the car in daily mobility entails significant costs directly or indirectly by households. Consequently, reducing dependence on the car appears to be objective of several public policies (encouraging carpooling, developing public transport network, etc.), the results of which remain mixed. Our research project aims to take an innovative approach to reducing the costs of to reducing the costs of automobility by estimating the potential for job swaps between employees. We seek to estimate the impact for the French case on recent data and exhaustive data.
