Measuring life expectancy inequalities in France

MINEGEV
The goal of this project is to describe life expectancy inequalities in France by socio-economic characteristics, such as individual income, gender, marital status or department of residence. The evolution of life expectancy inequalities will be compared across different cohorts. This work relies on preexisting studies, which have realized a similar work, among them Chetty et al. 2016 in the US have exploited exhaustive fiscal data to measure the “mortality social gradient”. In France, Blanpain (2018) measures a mortality gradient relying on the “Echantillon Démographique Permanent” (EDP). Relying on exhaustive fiscal data will allow us to go deeper in the analysis, as we will be able to measure life expectancy by income percentiles.
