This project aims at developing a microsimulation model of the French tax and benefit system taking into account spatial heterogeneity. Existing microsimulation models provide redistributive effects along dimensions sush as disposable income, age, marital status or the number of children, but always at the national level, without considering the interaction between the tax and benefit system and spatial factors. Then, they ignore spatial heterogeneity due to local taxation, the real estate market, home-work commuting (through energy taxation), or macroeconomic shocks affecting heterogeneously different regions. This project aims at filling this gap, by putting together exhaustive administrative sources with households' location.
