Recent literature documents a decline in the share of workers' income in value added in many countries, including France. The causes of this decline are debatable and include technological progress, globalization and changes in the market power of companies. However, this phenomenon hides a large degree of diversity, for example between sectors, and its micro-economic factors have only been studied recently. This project aims to study the changing share of labour in value added on a local level. As the labour market is often geographically limited, we intend to focus on the diversity of this pattern within employment areas and to link it to various potential mechanisms, such as industrial structure, its integration into globalization, or the market power of companies.
