Casier judiciaire : Statistical file of the national criminal record

Producer : Ministry of Justice (SDSE)
Authorisation : Comité du Secret Statistique
The statistical file of the national Criminal Record is a source of administrative data from the Criminal Record. For each person, it provides a record of criminal sanctions, judicial or administrative decisions leading to a deprivation of rights, and decisions affecting parental authority. Its objective is to describe the offences punished by the courts, judgment procedures, the nature and length of sentences handed down, the demographic profile of convicts and the frequency of repeat offences. It includes 3 tables per year: a table on sentencing events (or penal decisions), a table on offences and a table on measures. An event relates to one or more offences and is sanctioned by one or more measures or even no measure in the case of a sentence exemption. In the events table, each observation groups the data concerning the conviction, the convicted person, the main offence and the main measure. In the table of offences, an observation refers to an offence and finally in the table of measures, an observation refers to a measure. This file is received every month by the Sub-Directorate for Statistics and Studies (SDSE) of the Ministry of Justice. The SDSE performs consistency checks and also makes adjustments. The final data for year N are available in July of year N+2. Warning: As stipulated in article 777-3 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, "no interconnection within the meaning of 3° of I of article 33 of law no. 78-17 of January 6, 1978, relating to information technology, files and freedoms, may be made between the automated national criminal record and any other file or processing of personal data held by any person or by any government department not under the authority of the Ministry of Justice.
