The goal of this research project is to delve into the process of innovation, exploring how inventors, financial constraints and consumers’ demand shape the outcomes of the innovation. The research project is structured around three main areas of study. These three areas will be addressed separately and will possibly result in three research articles, although they target a common research agenda. The first part of the project will explore the innovation processes to identify the different types of innovation from R&D investment to patenting. The second axis will delve into the financial mechanisms that fuel innovation, examining the major sources of funding that represent a constraint for innovation. Finally, the last part aims to focus on environmental (or “green”) innovation to explore the factors that encourage companies to innovate in this direction.
