Vitiligo is a serious disease owing to its substantial psychological impact on patients' day-to-day functioning, and its progressive course if left untreated. Studies have shown that the effect vitiligo has on quality of life, particularly psychological impairment, is similar to other skin diseases, such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Involvement of exposed skin, such as the face and hands, can have a major impact on self-esteem and eventually link to the psychological burden and quality of life.
There is a lack of data on the burden of vitiligo on quality of life and healthcare resource consumptions and their related costs. Therefore, there is a need to collect real-world data on the profile of vitiligo patients in France, the impact of vitiligo in terms of perceived health and quality of life and the socio-economic impact of this disease.
