Any analysis of farmers income should account for its composition, level, distribution and evolution. The first project's pbjective is thus to take stock of the various definitions of the concept of 'agricultural income' and of the indicators and data sources usually used to characterize and quantify it, and to describe as precisely as possible the diversity of French farmers income. Second, the project aims at analysing the technico-economic factors which drive farm income and the trade-off between the immediate retribution of labour and a delayed retribution through capital asset accumulation. Third, it aims at studying how some CAP income support measures participate in achieving convergence and redistribution policy objectives in an effective and non-contradictory way, and whether such support measures are consistent with the simultaneous targeting on environmental issues.
