The recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, the transition to a green economy and the long-term structural changes due to demographic and technological change will lead to a substantial reallocation of jobs between firms, industries and regions. This raises potentially significant challenges for workers at risk of losing their jobs, but also offers new opportunities for career progression. This project provides a detailed statistical picture of the role of job mobility for workers and society at large using linked employer-employee data for selected OECD countries, including France. Particular attention is given to the risk and consequences of job displacement in the clean energy transition and how the lack of mobility of women contributes to the persistence of gender pay gaps in firms.
