The concept of ecosystem services (ES) aims to increase recognition of the contribution of ecosystems to human well-being and economic activity. Natural capital refers to the stock of materials and information contained in an ecosystem, while an ES is the benefit that ecosystems provide to humans. The concept of ES has only recently been transferred to soil science research. The concept of soil as natural capital has been less taken up and seems to remain specific to the field of environmental economics. The objective of this project is to analyse these concepts in a multidisciplinary manner. On the one hand, the production capacities of these soils and the different interactions between these ES will be analysed. On the other hand, the economic values of these soil ES will be estimated. In short, the aim will be to integrate the concept of soil natural capital into the production functions in order to analyse the provision of soil ES.
