The ministerial statistical service of Justice has opened the statistical source of the criminal record to research.
The data, paneled since 1994, cover all convictions and penal compositions of natural persons following a criminal judgment relating to offences classified as a crime, misdemeanour or contravention of 5th class, in metropolitan France, overseas departments and collectivities. The aim is to describe the offences sanctioned by the courts, the trial procedures, the nature and quantum of the sentences handed down, the demographic profile of the convicted persons or the extent of the phenomenon of recidivism.
