Stefanie Stantcheva, winner of the prize for the best young economist, awarded by Le Monde and Le Cercle des économistes, is a CASD user and talks to us about access to data:
“Access to data using CASD has been a very important contribution to my research work. The French data are of very good quality, both for individuals and companies. The opening of INSEE data from the USA thanks to Jean-Luc Tavernier, INSEE’s Director General, and the CASD team represents a very important step for research.
This expanded access to data is crucial for two reasons. First, in order to be able to study the French economy more rigorously. Access to data will encourage researchers – both in France and abroad – to study France, which will contribute to the design of economic policies in France. Then, France has experienced different reforms and policies from other countries, which will allow us to learn about the economy and economic phenomena and policies in general.
It is my hope that the example of access to INSEE data from the USA will be followed for other data sources as well. »
